Sri Lanka rupee closes stronger at 301.55/65 to US dollar

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka listed finance company, People’s Leasing and Finance Plc said it had appointed Kithsen Sanjeewa Bandaranayake as chief executive officer/general manager of with effect from August 6.

He replaces Rajapaksa Pathiranage Udesh Priyadarshana Gunawardena who functioned as acting CEO/GM. Gunawardena will resume his role as the chief operating officer (COO).

Bandaranayke has over 36 years of experience, including 31 years of expertise in the non-banking financial institution (NBFI) sector, the company said in a stock exchange filing.

He joined People’s Leasing and Finance in 2007 as the DGM – finance and administration, and has led multiple functions, including finance, treasury, administration, human resources, information technology, credit, and marketing.

Bandaranayake is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia, Fellow of the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Finalist of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka appointed Bandaranayake to serve as the acting CEO to resurrect three troubled finance companies in 2009, 2013 and 2015. He also served as a director of Credit Information Bureau (CRIB) for over a decade.

Bandaranayake has relevant interest in 235,659 shares of the Company. (Colombo/Aug7/2024)
