
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s has declared a special government holiday on Monday, September 23, the Department of Government Information (DGI) said, nearly three hours after the conclusion of the country’s presidential elections.
“September 23 Monday has been declared as a special government holiday,” the DGI said quoting Pradeep Yasarathna, Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
There was no reasons given for declaring the holiday. (Colombo/September 21/2024)
