ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange closed down on Wednesday, data on its site showed.
The broader ASPI closed down 0.60 percent, or 76.93 points, at 12,719; while the more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed down 0.73 percent, or 27.94 points, at 3,824.
Turnover was 3.1 billion.
John Keells Holdings saw interest and contributed 1.2 billion rupees to the turnover.
Most banks closed down: Hatton National Bank (down at 227.50), Commercial Bank (down at 115.50), Sampath Bank (down at 89.50), National Development Bank (down at 85.00), DFCC Bank (down at 82.30).
Crossings were recorded on HNB, JKH, PGP Glass, Hayleys Fabric (down at 51.10), Singer, Dipped Products (down at 38.60), Commercial Credit and Finance (down at 41.60), Commercial Bank and Vallibel One (up at 54.70).
Top contributors to the ASPI were Co-operative Insurance Company (up at 2.80), Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company (up at 1,069.75), Singer Sri Lanka (up at 20.40), Amana Takaful (11.20) and Chevron Lubricants (up at 126.50).
