Sri Lanka rupee closes stronger at 292.55/65 to dollar, bonds down

ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange closed on a mixed note on Thursday, data on its site showed.

The broader ASPI closed up 0.07 percent, or 8.76 points, at 12,727; while the more liquid S&P SL20 Index closed down 0.02 percent, or 0.91 points, at 3,823.

Turnover was 2.1 billion.

Top contributors to the ASPI were John Keells Holdings (up at 21.50), Melstacorp (up at 101.75), Dipped Products (up at 41.00), Hemas Holdings (83.10) and LOLC Holdings (up at 448.50).

Banking stocks closed down; Hatton National Bank (down at 227.00), Sampath Bank (down at 88.50), Commercial Bank (up at 114.50), DFCC Bank (down at 82.00) and National Development Bank (down at 84.40).

There was a net foreign inflow of 45 million rupees. (Colombo/Nov7/2024)
